I’m so honored that you’re considering me to document such a special day. I wanted to explain a little about how birth photography works so you know what to expect.
Because every labor is unique, I am on call for your birth beginning at 37 weeks until your baby arrives. Once labor starts, I'll ask that you keep me updated with texts or calls as things progress.
I typically leave for your birth once active labor is well established. This is usually when contractions are consistently close together, your care team or doula feels birth is progressing well, or you let me know things have become more intense. This allows me to be present for the most meaningful parts of your birth story while also being available when you need me most.
Once I arrive, I'll quietly document your experience—from the strength and emotion of labor to the birth itself (if you choose), your baby's first moments, skin-to-skin, meeting family members, and the beautiful golden hour afterward. I generally stay until about 1–2 hours after your baby is born so those first memories are preserved as well.
Since birth is unpredictable, there may be times when labor progresses much faster or much slower than expected. We'll stay in close communication throughout your labor so I can arrive at the best possible time. My goal is to tell the story of your baby's birth in an authentic, respectful, and meaningful way while allowing you to remain fully present in the moment.
If you have any questions about what is or isn't photographed, I'm always happy to talk through your preferences. Every birth story is different, and I'm here to document yours in a way that makes you feel comfortable and cared for.
